Auto Accident -Rte 376 north of DC Airport - New Hackensack Fire District
The New Hackensack Fire Department along with Town of Wappinger Ambulance/TransCare Medics were dispatched for a single car auto accident with entrapment on Route 376 north of the Dutchess County Airport at approximately 3:00 am on Saturday June 2nd. There initially were conflicting reports of how many patients but all callers indicated that extrication was required. First arriving units found a late model Honda Accord into a tree with only one patient the driver, a middle aged female pinned in the vehicle. The vehicle appeared to have been traveling south on Rte 376 and left the roadway sliding sideways striking a tree at the passenger side front door. The force of the impact caused the tree to almost completely occupy the front passenger seat area. The driver appeared to have significant internal injuries and was treated by Town of Wappinger/TransCare Medics as New Hackensack Firefighters performed the extrication. The extrication was completed in approximately fifteen minutes at which point the patient was transported by Town of Wappinger/TransCare ambulance to the St. Francis Hospital Trauma Center for treatment of her injuries. The accident investigation was handled by the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office.
