Structure Fire - City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department - #385 Mansion St. 10/24/07

The City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department (Dutchess Cnty. N.Y.) was dispatched early this A.M. for a reported structure fire at #385 Mansion St. First arriving PFD units found heavy fire conditions on the second floor of a 2 story, wood frame, multiple family dwelling. A 10-75 was immediately transmitted which brings in a mutual-aid F.A.S.T. team and a short time later, a second alarm was sounded which recalls all off-duty personnel and mans a reserve engine. As firefighters fought the blaze, it became apparent that this would be a long term operation at which point, a third alarm was sounded which fills the empty city fire stations with mutual-aid companies. At one point during the incident, evacuation orders were given when the fire conditions suddenly deteriorated. Firefighters were soon back in the building and at this point, made quick work of extinguishing the fire. PFD was assisted at the scene by the Fairview Fire Dept. with their F.A.S.T. team who were eventually put to work as well as the Arlington Fire Dept. with their F.A.S.T. team. The Arlington, Highland (Ulster Cnty), and Roosevelt Fire Departments provided coverage in the PFD fire stations during the incident.

I got there fairly quickly considering the drive I had...... I was surprised to see they had it knocked down when I arrived........ I figured that I got myself out of bed at 4:15 AM and drove all the way up there so I'm not going to make this a wasted effort.... So I figured I might as well get some practice shots in so when I do finally get some fire, I'll be better prepaired...... Here they are...... I hope you enjoy them.... Bill
